- Revision Date: Aug 2013
This research quantifies the impact of climate change, disease, and genetic improvement on wheat yields of varieties grown in 11 locations in Kansas from 1985-2011. Variety yield data from Kansas performance tests were matched with comprehensive location-specific weather and disease data. Results show that wheat breeding programs increased yield by 0.51 bu/acre each year, and a 1ºC increase in projected mean temperature decreases yields by 10.64 bu/acre. 36 pages.
